Ally work is a term that gets used a lot, often among individuals or groups who want to leverage their unearned privilege to fight for those marginalized by that privilege. In this case it refers to someone who is heterosexual and/or cisgender, but who does the work to serve as an activist and supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights.
