Integrating Library Resources into Canvas

This guide is a step-by-step how-to on embedding TCC Library resources into Canvas courses.

Swank

Follow the step-by-step instructions below, complete with illustrative screenshots in order to link to videos from Swank in Canvas pages. Unfortunately, Swank is not configured to embed video players directly in Canvas, but these steps will ensure that you are using the proper link to route students to the video content so that they have full access.

  • First, open or create the Canvas page in which you'll be embedding video content.
  • Then, open the page for the Swank content you'll be embedding.
  • Once you have identified the video you'll be embedding and have opened the corresponding webpage, look below the video to locate the "Share" button. Click the "Share" button, then click "Copy LMS Link"

  • Once you have clicked that button, look on the bottom right corner of the page for a "Success" message:

  • Once you're sure you've copied the LMS Link, toggle to your Canvas page, and click the "Edit" button. Once the text box is open, click the cloud icon on the upper righthand side of the top menu bar:

  • Clicking the cloud icon will open up an empty text box labeled "Embed." Paste the embed code you copied from Kanopy in the empty text box:

  • Hit submit and your video link will be set! Please be sure to include a citation for the video you have embedded to be in accordance with Copyright Law and best practices for fair use.

  • Finally, be sure to hit save!
