Research Resources for Nursing & Allied Health
Databases with Health-Related Resources
Nursing and most of the other allied health programs at TCC will find current articles in the following databases.
Save Time Searching Multiple Databases
Several of the databases in the list above are all produced by EBSCOhost. It is often efficient to search more than 1 EBSCOhost database at the same time. See the video below for a very quick lesson on how to set up that all-in-one search.
Writing
Nursing and the allied health professions are found within the larger disciplines of medicine and science. While Medicine and the Sciences are not the same discipline, they do value the same general ideas in their professional writing.
Readers in both Medicine and Science value:
- Current references and sources; the more current the better.
- Processes and measurements that can be reproduced. In both of these fields practitioners and theorists would like to try to achieve similar results, so share your methodology clearly.
- Proof of conclusions. It is important to show how you arrived at your thinking by examining your thinking clearly in your writing.
- Application to the field of study: how will this information apply to the practice of nursing or respiratory therapy? What are the challenges of implementing evidence-based medicine within the specific field?
