Chemicals as a commodity

Selecting articles

This is a screen shot of 2 articles that resulted in the key word search, caffeine global trade, in the ProQuest database. The first is titled, Caffeine for sale: The hidden trade of the world's favorite stimulant, a radio interview from NPR. The other is called C.8.H.1.O.N.4.O.2, a magazine article from Wired. The annotation instructs students to click on the link "full text: to access articles. The annotation reads, These are fun, interesting articles about the global trade and application of powdered caffeine.

This is a screen shot of an article found from the key word search, caffeine production history, in the ProQuest database. The article is titled The essence of commodification: Caffeine dependencies in the early new world. This is an article from the scholarly, or peer-reviewed, journal called Journal of Social History. The annotation indicates that this is a scholarly article about a narrow aspect of the chemical's historical significance.
