ENGL 102: Chen-Johnson, M. (Spring 2025): Web

Finding the best information on the web is often a matter of figuring out what kinds of sites give reliable, plentiful information. For the topic, gender and intuition, I might want to search educational institution sites (college, universities), and would want to search for web address that end in .edu.

In the screen shot below, I searched for gender and intuition using Google, telling the search engine to look for my search term in education sites only. Note how I constructed the search with, site:.edu

I could also search

commercial sites site:.com

non-profit sites: site:.org

or government sites: site:.gov

When evaluating websites and articles you find on websites, look at the About Us pages, find out who their contributors are, Google authors so you can learn about their education and background - are they qualified to write about the topics they are writing about, in the way that they are writing about them.
