Primary sources: The source I need isn't here...

This guide is for anyone needing to use primary sources for research, primarily in US history - what they are, what to expect, and how to find them

Don't go just yet...

What else is there?

By its nature, a "complete" guide to primary sources is impossible.  Since there are a variety of needs students may have at TCC for primary sources, we have focused on the most common research needs we have seen in the library.

We encourage you to ask for a faculty Librarian at the Research Desk in the TCC library for help in locating primary sources that meet your needs.

In addition...

It is easy enough for us to list primary source recommendations for you, but we understand that many of these archives are difficult to search.  Please feel free to visit the Research Desk in the Library.  The faculty Librarians can give you customized assistance to help you find the documents you need and help you navigate archive databases.
