How to use library databases for key concepts, definitions, and biographies of famous psychologists

What's in Gale eBooks library database?

The Gale eBooks library database has reference materials, such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, and handbooks, which are credible, published resources to use for defining key concepts and movements.

Start searching the Gale eBooks library database:

Search tips & sample search:

  1. In the search box at the top, start by typing in keywords that relate to your key concepts, community, etc. For keywords that are a phrase, then put those words in quotation marks. This keeps those words together in your search results, and leads to more relevant results.
  2. Click on the title of the article to read the full article -- and get extra tools to help you email and cite the article!
  3. Take note of the title of the encyclopedia or reference book -- this will give you clues about the subject matter or context
  4. Take note of the publication datepage count, and document type.
  5. Also pay attention to different ways you can filter, or narrow down, your results. For sources that define key concepts, click the "Document Type" button and select the "Topic overview."
  6. Click the Topic Finder button to visually narrow down your keywords and results
